Three years ago this month, I was preparing for my move to SLC. I drove to SL to find an apartment, drove back to Wichita, and completed my last two months in the state of Fredericka Phelps (aka one of the supervisors there - not my own, thankfully). Right before I moved, Ms. "Phelps" told me, "SLC is going to close within two years; it may not be worth your move..." Really?
Really?
Three years and four months later the mighty REC is still going strong, with great people and a great place to work! Moreover, someone with a great "inside track", so to speak, told me something VERY encouraging. If we were to close some time soon, we wouldn't have...
This person didn't give me permission to share her identity nor the exact knowledge she shared, so I won't break a perceived confidence.
Don't listen to the doomsayers, comrades! Especially those who aren't even presently among us. Whew - whatever b(granules)s they possess, they must belong somewhere in the vicinity of the Blue Man Group...

I remember seeing that same prediction a few times on the other forum. I guess it gave people who were losing their jobs some comfort, to think SLC would soon be in the same boat. Maybe Wichita management made up the story to soften the blow? Anyway, all the predictions I've heard that the SLC REC is closing have come from people outside the REC. Sometimes from people who never worked in any REC. We're doing just fine, as anyone who actually works there can see.

Yes, indeed! We are doing just fine! Every day when I come to work I am so grateful for this job! All of us make this great REC what it is!
I have disappointments in my life too, but I sure don't try to bring others down!
Long live the SLC REC!
