Hey everyone. This is my first time posting and I have a few questions I was hoping you guys could help with.
My first question is about roster leave. I converted to a career last year and at the end of the year I filled out one of those slips that the union hands out. I put down the two weeks that I knew would include the days I would like off. My question is, what's next?
One person told me I do the usual and fill out a 3971 60 days before my desired days off and then just wait and see if they are approved. Another told me there is a vacation roster sheet where I can see if my days are available and put my name down and for sure have those days off. If someone who has been through the process could give me a detailed answer that would be great.
Second question: I currently have 14 days of annual leave which is more than I need but I still want to sign up for at least 2 holidays before my vacation and bank the hours. What form do I fill out to indicate that I'd like to put those hours toward my annual leave?
And my final question: When bidding for a different shift online, is day 1 considered to be Saturday?
I've heard conflicting information on these topics but I was hoping I could get straight answers here. Thanks for any help!

Hi lee2001. You are guaranteed to have your annual approved for your roster weeks, and your name is already on the roster sheet. You'll just need to turn in a 3971 for the annual. The latest you can turn it in is Tuesday for the following week, or Monday if the following week includes a holiday. I usually turn my roster week 3971 in a few weeks early though, I don't want to wait until the last minute and then forget.
To receive annual for working a holiday, sign up in the holiday binder as usual. Then on the day of your holiday, turn in a 3971. Fill it out as usual, and under "Type of Absence" choose "Holiday/AL Lv Exch."
Yes, day 1 is Saturday. Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum.
